A reduction in - freight rates on railways, averaging 10% . were ordered today by the interstate ¢om- merce commission, in a d=cision resulting from its enquiry into the general raie srreeture of the Nation. The cut in freight rates was fixed by the commission at 11% in'the eastera territory, 131% in dh> western territory and 12% in the soathern and mountain pacifie territories. A'l reductions ordered are effective on July Ist and constitute a greater cut than was uenerally expected. Paris May, 25th.
