THE Bar ados Execuiive has recom- mended to the Legisiative Assembly the expenditure of the sum of £654 to- ward the estabiishment of a wireless telegraph station in that island. The Weekly Herald expresses its approval and also the hope that the House will vote the amount ungrudgingly.— Ibid. BARBADOS has just put its Victory Stamps into circulation. A couple of these have already reached our hands. The design is a very handsome one. In the centre on a dark ground is a female figure representing the Angel of Victory which carries ir her hand what appears to be a chaplet. The alue of the stamp is printed on both sides under- neath., with the word ‘‘postage’’ coming in between. On the right hand corner are the figures '‘l9l9’’and in opposite corner the word ‘‘Vietory.”” The values struck are from one farthing to3 shil lings. The Advocate understands that an-unusually large number of bookings have been made by stamp collectors.— Ibid. According to the return of produce shipped from this Presidency to the 15th. of Sept. last, the two main staple products of the island are still holding their own with the output of the same period of last year. At that date the shipment of cocoa had been 2,462 cwts; this year’s return gives it at 4, CHRISTIANSTED., V.I. U. S. A., SATURDAY 9tH OCTOBER 1920. 490 cwts. Concentrated and raw lime juice figured at 69,616 gals. and 119,621 gals respectively; this period 71.295 and 221,224 gals.—an unprecedented in crease: cordial was 3,727 gals.. this year’s output being 7,640 gals. Green limes were nearly equal, there being hut a slight decrease in citrate. Hard- wood showed an increase this year of 20,000 fteet. Cocoanuis were 51l 639 on Sep'. las(, an inerease of a little less than half the former period; and soon. Nota bad record. Crop condi- tions con‘inue quite favourable, much ot the lime trees in this .icinity being in tull bearing. and some cocoa pla ters s eak favourably of the comirg crop.—lbid.
