The Council npened with the following prayer by the Chaplain Rev. H. Piggot. Most gracious God we humbly beseech Theo, as for the people of this Island in general; so especially for their re: presentatives in Council assembled that Thou wouldest be pleased to direct and prosper all their consultations to the glory and welfare of Thy people: thit all thines may be so ordered and settled by their endeavors upen the best and surest foundations, that peace and happiness, truth and justice, reii- gion and piety may be tablished among us for all genera'ions.
