When the Agricultural Station was to start, a loan of $20,000 was rais:d from the Immigra- tion Fund and a certain amoeunt was given yearly by the Municipality towards its support ‘That continued until 1917, The balance of this loan is a part of the $20,000 which the Couancil voted as a loan towards the establishment of the Station. As regards the title to the estate, while the Statton has been transferred to the Federal Department of Agriculture the title still rests with the Munici- pality; no transfer {was made by this Council by which the Estate Jwas trans- ferred to the Federal Department of Agricuiture in the States. It is only the operation of the Station has beer transferred over. : 4th Member for Frederiksted Country District (Andzarsen): L'his is a very important mattar. With regard to remark by the Honorable 4 h Memter far Frederiksted Country District, if the F(lderal Government owns buildings at the Station it is prima facie evidence that the Federal Government owns property there. As regards the land if the Manri- cipality still ‘holds title to that it would appear necessary to sell it to the Federal Government which will require legisla- tion by Congress, If the question is taken up they may ask if you want to gell or may aband n the Station. 2nd Member for {Caristiansted Town (Cincgata): Mr Vice-Cbairman. Does the Department of Agriculture really need the whole of Anna’s Hope? [ think the question of who owns the Station should be sectled. The (Vice-Chairman) remarked: We have gone as far as we can go. In view of the fact that no definite information can be furnished by Government or the Members of this Council as to the trans- fer of the Experiment Station to the De- partment of Agrieulture I propose that the Municipal Committee go into the matter and report to the Council, - 4th Appointed Member (Blackwoo® seconded thie member’s motion.
