EXTENSION OF THE SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY 3 INCOME BENEFITS PROGRAM TO GUAM, THE 4 UNITED STATES VIRGIN ISLANDS, AND AMER- 5 ICAN SAMOA. 6 (a) IN GENERAL.—Section 1101(a)(1) of the Social 7 Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1301(a)(1)) is amended— 8 VerDate Mar 15 2010 22:23 Jan 08, 2013 Jkt 029200 PO 00000 Frm 00001 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H91.IH H91 tkelley on DSK3SPTVN1PROD with 2 •HR 91 IH (1) by striking ‘‘, the Virgin Islands, and 1 Guam’’ each place such term appears; and 2 (2) by striking ‘‘title IV’’ and inserting ‘‘titles 3 IV and XVI (as in effect pursuant to such amend- 4 ment after December 31, 1973)’’. 5 (b) CONFORMING AMENDMENTS.— 6 (1) Section 303(b) of the Social Security 7 Amendments of 1972 (86 Stat. 1484) is amended by 8 striking ‘‘, Guam, and the Virgin Islands’’. 9 (2) Sections 3(a)(2), 1003(a)(2), 1403(a)(2), 10 and 1603(a)(2) of such Act (42 U.S.C. 303(a)(2), 11 1203(a)(2), 1353(a)(2), and 1383 note) are each 12 amended by striking ‘‘, the Virgin Islands, and 13 Guam’’. 14 (3) Section 1614(e) of such Act (42 U.S.C. 15 1382c(e)) is amended by striking ‘‘and the District 16 of Columbia’’ and inserting ‘‘, the District of Colum- 17 bia, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and American 18 Samoa’’. 19 (c) EFFECTIVE DATE.—The amendments made by 20 this section shall take effect on the 1st day of the 3rd 21 calendar month that begins after the date of the enact- 22 ment of this Act. 23 Æ VerDate Mar 15 2010 22:23 Jan 08, 2013 Jkt 029200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H91.IH H91 tkelley on DSK3SPTVN1PROD with
