Public Noti -—-._—.—--_.._ HE attention of the public, and the merchants in particular, is earnestly called to the following order issued today to enlisted men of the United States naval service 8n duty in the Virgin Islands. 3. Mo enlisted man of the Unitad States Navy or Marine Corps on duty in the Virgin Islands shall, in any one month hereafter, without writ- ten petrmission from his comm nding officer in each case, contract debts bayond an amount which he shall be able to conveniently pay on the first pay day in the /olloning monih .‘2 Men reported for failure to pay just debts on such pay day shall be -sub- Ject to trial by court-martial.”’ Persons extendi-g credit to such en- listed men should sse discretion as to the amount of such ecredit so that fne above order may be fully ‘omplied with. While investigation will be made of reports of uapaid debts 50, that diseci- plinary action may be taken, neverthe- less the Goverument will not act as a colleection agency for the recovery of such debts.
