RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Purpose: To approve a Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management. WHEREAS, the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management is a “partnering program” designed to partner with existing maritime academies or institutes; and WHEREAS, the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management is designed to provide expanded career opportunities in the maritime industry for local residents who require expertise in business to supplement their technical expertise in the industry in order to secure management positions in the industry; and WHEREAS, on April 20, 2018, the Department of Management, Marketing, and Decision Science in the School of Business approved the establishment of the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management; and WHEREAS, on April 23, 2018, the Curriculum Committee in the School of Business approved the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management; and WHEREAS, on April 24, 2018, the School of Business approved the Bachelor of Science degree pr …

RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Purpose: To approve a Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management. WHEREAS, the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management is a “partnering program” designed to partner with existing maritime academies or institutes; and WHEREAS, the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management is designed to provide expanded career opportunities in the maritime industry for local residents who require expertise in business to supplement their technical expertise in the industry in order to secure management positions in the industry; and WHEREAS, on April 20, 2018, the Department of Management, Marketing, and Decision Science in the School of Business approved the establishment of the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management; and WHEREAS, on April 23, 2018, the Curriculum Committee in the School of Business approved the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management; and WHEREAS, on April 24, 2018, the School of Business approved the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management; and WHEREAS, on May 3, 2018, the Curriculum Committee of the University approved the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management; and WHEREAS, on May 11, 2018, the faculty of the University approved the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management; and WHEREAS, on May 21, 2018, the Academic Research and Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees voted to recommend to the Board of Trustees the establishment of the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY THAT: 1. The establishment of the Bachelor of Science degree program in Maritime Management is hereby approved. 2. The President is authorized to take such action as is necessary to implement this resolution. 3. This resolution shall become effective June 2, 2018. CERTIFICATION The undersigned hereby certifies that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of a resolution of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands and adopted at its meeting on Saturday, June 2, 2018, as recorded in the minutes of the said meeting.
