Privacy
The short version. USVI Public Records has no accounts, no advertising and nothing to sell. Our two AI connectors do not log your searches or your address. The rest of this page says exactly what is and is not kept, and by whom.
This page covers usvipublicrecords.com and its two connectors for AI assistants (the MCP servers at mcp.usvipublicrecords.com and newspapers-mcp.usvipublicrecords.com). USVI Public Records is built and run by journalist Brian Louden.
The AI connectors
These two servers answer questions about the archive for AI assistants such as Claude. They are read-only and need no sign-in.
Not kept
The words you search for and the documents you open are used to answer that request and then discarded. We do not write them to any log, database or file.
Not logged
Cloudflare, which runs these servers, sees the address each request comes from, as any network has to, and uses it for a short-lived limit of requests per minute. If you use a connector through Claude on the web or in the desktop or mobile apps, that address is Anthropic's rather than yours. Claude Code and other clients that connect directly reach the servers from your own machine, so the address is yours. Either way, the servers do not log it.
Never reaches us
A server receives only what the assistant puts in a tool call. It does not see your chat, your memory or your files, and it builds no profile of anyone.
What the servers do record:
- A count of requests per minute, with nothing about who made them, kept for two days so the servers can pause themselves if traffic runs away.
- A note when a tool fails: which tool and what kind of failure, never what was asked. Kept for seven days.
- Attempts to reach addresses that do not exist, such as the automated scans for
/.envor/wp-login.php: the path requested, the address and network it came from, its country and its browser string. Kept for seven days so we can see attacks. A person using a connector never produces one of these.
A change, stated plainly. Until 30 October 2026 these servers also kept a log of every request for seven days, with the requesting address, its approximate location and the browser string. Those logs never held search words, and the last of them expire on 7 November 2026.
This website
- Hosting. Pages are served by Firebase Hosting (Google) and files by Cloudflare, each of which keeps its own routine server logs.
- Visitor counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. It does not run on the search page.
- Fonts. Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them.
- Searching the archive runs in your own browser, not on a server of ours, and we keep no record of what you searched. The search page carries no analytics and does not pass your words on to the next page you open. They do appear in that page's address, so Google's routine hosting logs can see them when the page is loaded.
- Submitting a document. The submit form stores what you send us: links, files, your description and any contact details you choose to give. It also stores a scrambled form of your address, used to limit submissions per hour, and uses Cloudflare Turnstile to keep out automated spam. We keep a submission for as long as we need it to review the document.
Who else is involved
We do not sell or share information with anyone for advertising or for any other purpose. The companies that run the services above handle data under their own terms: Cloudflare and Google. If you reach a connector through an AI assistant, that assistant's own privacy terms cover your conversation with it.
People named in the records
The archive holds public records, and public records name people. We screen documents for personal information before they publish. If you find something that should not be public, or a mistake, tell us and we will look at it.
