VI Update

USVI Public Records

Built and run by journalist Brian LoudenThe territory’s public record — kept public.

Terms of use

The short version. USVI Public Records is a free public archive. No account, no charge. Use what you find here. It comes with no guarantee, and it is not legal advice.

These terms cover usvipublicrecords.com, its file host and data API, and its two connectors for AI assistants. The archive is built and run by journalist Brian Louden. By using them, you accept these terms.

The records are not ours

Each document belongs to the agency, court, publisher or other source it came from, or is free of copyright altogether. We own none of them and assert nothing about their status. What we add, the descriptions, tagging, arrangement and extracted text, is released under CC0 1.0, as Using what you find here explains. Nothing here asks you to seek our permission to copy or republish, and we cannot give you rights we do not hold. Whether you may reuse a particular document is yours to judge for that document.

As is, with no warranty

The archive is provided as it is and as available, without warranty of any kind. Scanned text comes from OCR and contains errors. Titles, dates and descriptions may be wrong. Holdings have gaps, and a search that finds nothing does not mean a record does not exist. Check the original before you rely on anything here. Documents and services may change or be withdrawn at any time. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss from using the archive.

Not legal advice

Nothing here is legal advice. A copy of a law may not be current or official. For a legal question, check the official source and ask a lawyer. An AI assistant using the connectors can get things wrong, so follow its citations to the document.

Corrections

If something here is wrong or should not be public, write to support@usvipr.com. We will look at it.

Heavy use

If you want a lot of the archive, please do not crawl this website; it is billed by the gigabyte. Use the catalogue and file host instead, which need no key and have no quota. The catalogue lists every published document in one file, and each document's file and text can then be downloaded one at a time. The connectors allow a limited number of requests per minute. We may block traffic that harms the service for others.

If these terms change, the date below changes with them.
